There will a total solar eclipse across Asia and India tomorrow. I have always had a love for anything astronomical and wish I could see it. “A total solar eclipse won’t cross the Americas until August 21, 2017, when the Moon’s umbra will sweep from Oregon to South Carolina.” Think I will still be around to see that one?
“The celestial spectacle on July 22, 2009, will darken major cities, densely populated countryside, and a vast expanse of tropical ocean. And the eclipse itself will be a monster, with totality lasting more than 6.6 minutes at maximum. That makes this the longest totality until 2132.”
This is the path that it will take
“The longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century begins at dawn near the west coast of India and crosses southern China before heading out into the Pacific Ocean. Red lines denote regions where a partial eclipse is visible. Blue lines indicate mideclipse in Universal Time. Click on the image for a larger version.”

AP – An Oscar Meyer Wienermobile crashed into the home and outdoor deck of Nick Krupp in Racine, Wis. on Friday …
Fri Jul 17, 9:01 pm ET
MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. – One southern Wisconsin homeowner is probably not in love with the Oscar Mayer wiener. The famed hot dog’s Wienermobile crashed Friday into the deck and garage of a home in Mount Pleasant, about 35 miles south of Milwaukee.
Police said the driver was trying to turn the Wienermobile around in the driveway and thought she was moving in reverse. But she instead went forward and hit the home. It sat in the driveway as if it were stuck in the garage Friday afternoon.
No one was home and no one was injured. No citations were immediately issued.
Both the home and vehicle suffered moderate damage, which Oscar Mayer spokeswoman Sydney Lindner says insurance will cover.
Police hadn’t been able to speak to the homeowner as of early Friday evening
___________
My note on this…
I saw this wienermobile in Flagstaff last November in front of the Safeway. For some odd reason I think this is the coolest vehicle. I would just LOVE to be able to drive it! There are six of these wienermobiles…. maybe they wouldn’t notice if only one was missing for a few hours
Here is my pic of it that day.
”Oh I wish I were an Oscar Mayer Wiener. That is what I truly like to be, because if I were an Oscar Mayer wiener, everyone would be in love with me!”
I grew up with Walter Cronkite. He took me through the Vietnam war, Kennedy’s assassination, the moonwalk, Watergate and I am sure much much more that I can not even remember at this time.
I have been fascinated by the Hoover Dam’s new bypass bridge for years! Whenever I go over the dam on my way to Vegas, I stare at the overpass bridge. This overpass will cut the trip by at least 30 min to an hour, I think. The tourists down on the road that goes over the actual dam and the lookie-loos really clog up the passing through people. And the terrorist inspection points 5 miles from either side of the dam will hold up traveling quite a bit, too. I posted this pic on an earlier post.
But, this one I took actually shows the overpass’s “fingers” and where it will join together.
When this oeverpass is finally finished, the view to Lake Mead should be awesome – much better than this pic, taken from the Nevada side while I was driving the car.
The new overpass will allow trucking to get to Vegas and points beyond faster, too, because they have to get there the long way around – the inspection points will not allow semi trucks.
So, about 5 yrs after the first bucket of dirt was moved, we will get a great new overpass. If you want to know more stats and specs about the overpass, check out Hoover Dam bypass bridge an epic marvel , by Sean Holstege – Jul. 17, 2009 12:00 AM The Arizona Republic
Tonight Leavi and I BBQed hamburgers and then he toasted marshmallows…. I can’t eat them anymore because of the egg whites in the marshmallows – but they sure did SMELL good!!
Too much flash in this one but you can - just barely – see the red coals
No flash this time and you can see the red hot coals better
This is where I spend as much of my time as I can – with the horses. They calm me, center me and make me laugh. The ducks have been going out to Shadow’s pen to help him eat his oats for the past week. Please, excuse his bony butt and winter hair…. he is about 26 now and this is the best that he has looked since I have had him.
See the brown one in the hay, waiting to dive into the oats?
This duck decided to stop and groom a bit….
And this is of my two big guys, Biggin on the left and Ruskie, on the right… both on a diet (and always hungry!) and needing exercise… my bad!
I am reallllly happy that WP did this last upgrade. I have been wanting to share so much but when this doesn’t work properly, I just get to frustrated to deal with it. And this is suppose to be fun for me!
