I just started to follow Mommy Knows and she is giving away a basket of Kraft goodies!
quote~~
There are a couple pounds of Nabob Traditions coffee, two jars of Kraft Peanut Butter, some Kraft PURE Strawberry Jam, a box of Peek Freans LifeStyle Coconut Lime cookies, several packages of the fabulous Back to Nature Nuts (if you can keep from eating the Back to Nature – Cranberries, Chocolate Covered Almonds and Vanilla Almonds mix in one sitting, I’ll give you a prize (not really)), a bottle of Kraft Olive Oil salad dressing, and …
there is also a package of Oreo Sippers (I’ll try to keep Georgia from ripping your box open (like the one above) before the contest ends), several packages of Christie’s Snak Paks, a box of Ritz Premier Collection Buttercrisp crackers and last (I think … maybe there’s more), but of course never the least … Toblerone Chocolates.

Isn’t this sooo cool? Hubble has been repaired and is back in action with 10 new photos!
Luke is 13 now. Since we live in a rural area, his dad has been letting him drive our pickup in the area – with an adult. Up until recently, I have not been able to admit my “baby” is growing up. He has hassled me so much since GH went back on the road that I relented… and let him drive…. ME in the passenger seat! This was quite a reality check for me – he IS growing up! GH and I thought he should learn to drive in the event of an emergency evacuation around here… the truck would carry sooo much and I would have the van with my MIL.
Yes, I think he needs a haircut, too! LOL
Luke has never much liked school but this year, for the FIRST time, he came home from the first day of school VERY excited about 8th grade. My dream come true for him. He has sat down and actually read a book for the first time, too. I knew he could read, but he has REALLY hated it! He read this book from beginning to the end in a few hours, came out of his room with a smile on his face and said “That was a GOOD book!”
And I think I found an author that I could actually kiss!
A few weeks ago, Leavi and I started to dig a hole. We were looking for a leak in a pipe for the water spigot for the horses. The ground around the spigot had been damp to puddly for weeks and in this dry air, that meant a leak. I have, also, noticed our water usage had doubled and the water pump was coming on too often. Leavi did most of the work… digging out the dirt and the rocks. The pipe is three feet down so that it won’t freeze in the winter. We did find a leak at the elbow – three feet down. It was a hard and muddy job! (Sorry about the cell phone pic, again.)
We ended up calling the plumber and the whole spigot from the elbow up had to be replaced. The water usage went from just under 3000 gallons a week to about 1200! And the water pump calmed down, too!
Leavi, also, worked for the water man this past summer delivering flyers by foot. He was so business-like about the job
Our trip to the fair was fun. Leavi felt better after a 3 hr nap and the storms made a parting in the sky for the fairgrounds. It rained all around us! We opted out on the Demolition Derby because we got such a late start. I got a few pics with my camera when the full battery died… time to go buy another. The boys took off with their friends and, for the first time, I went wandering by myself. I have always enjoyed watching people and found lots of entertainment!
The Tall Man was very colorful~
I followed this little number around for a while
Then I stopped to watch the Magic Show~
I went to check on the Little Man while he was waiting in line for a ride..
Went off of my diet for a Philly Cheese (oooH it was sooo GOOD!) and an ice cream. While I ate my ice cream, I was entertained by this guy~
But I think my favorite part was the 4-H Livestock Auction. I had many friends from “home” who were there to sell their projects -- chickens, rabbits, a turkey, cattle and pigs. This was the Grand Champion steer. His size put my Arabian to shame!! Sorry for the lousy shot -- I only had one chance to get this.
The auctioneer man was VERY entertaining -- you will need sound ~on~ for this.. again, sorry for the video quality -- it was my phone… but I really wanted to share the audio part.
I could have stayed until closing but I had to get home and feed the critters that I own!
I know, I promised pics of the county fair… am working on that now – but in the meantime~~
Talina is liquidating some of her inventory and is having a giveaway of some reallllly COOL stuff! Just click here. All you have to do is follow her at Twitter and RT for her.

Leavi and I are off to the Coconino County Fair today. Luke went with a friend and I am hoping to be able to catch up with him at the fair… I, also, want to see the Demolition Derby. We shall see…. the rain has been coming down almost constant with a few brief moments of sun. We are under a Flash Flood Watch now. But the fair only comes once a year! I will be most thankful, I think, for the exhibit buildings! And Leavi does not feel the best… allergies. But we are going to make an honest try for the fair and to have lots of fun! Will have pics tonight or tomorrow to share with you.
EVENING UPDATE
The fair was fun! The camera took a dump – but a got few before it died (full battery) and took afew with my phone camera. And it didn’t rain! More tomorrow….
