Jordin Sparks

October 1st, 2009

GH has been out with the Britney Spears Circus Tour – which ended last Sunday in Las Vegas. It was a two night venue. I went to the Saturday night show…. to see the Delightful Jordin Sparks who was one of Britney’s opening acts. I thoroughly enjoyed watching her on American Idol and even more so live. She is a sassy and energetic performer – without any strobs, massive bass or tacky costumes. Just Jordin. I LOVED IT!! And I almost got to shake her hand at the end of her show. She was coming down the ramp to leave, was about 3 ft from me when some REALLY cute guys on the other side caught her eye :-) They got pics with her. She is so sweet! She is at MySpace and she Twitters. She is at home now after a long long summer of touring and with many jaunts all over the USA between nights with Britney and The Jonas Brothers. She was such a trooper even when she didn’t feel good, she still put on her smile and gave her best performance at every venue.I apologize for the pics… a point and shoot with too many back lights going on.I am sure there must be a setting on my camera for this type of pic but I was too busy enjoying the show to change the setting for almost every pic… hey, I am certainly no pro!

I wondered if these were the buses for Britney, Jordin and the other performers – maybe they were staying at the Mandalay where they performed…..

Yes, I DID get this CLOSE! It was great! When I went to see Britney last April in Las Vegas at the MGM, it was VERY crowded, hot and loud. This time, the seats were filled but where I was – at “ringside” – there was enough room to walk around. I walked all over taking pics while weaving through a few people here and there to get closer to the stage.

I did stay to see a few acts from the Circus and a few songs of Britney’s songs

Late Show Brittney Spears

In this image taken from video and provided by CBS, singer Britney Spears presents the ‘Top Ten Ways the Country Would Be Different if Britney Spears Were President,’ on the ‘Late Show with David Letterman,’ Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009. Spears is currently in the middle of her ‘Circus’ tour, which returns to North America on Thursday, Aug. 20.

My family (and the payroll!) are back on board for the adventure…. I am excited to see the opening with Jordan Sparks at the end of Sept in Vegas. I may or may not stay to see Britney, again. I think I would rather go to dinner with my GH while she plays and before he has to be ready to load her equipment back onto his trailer for the next venue.

Guess who is driving for this awesome show!? :-)

I am not a Britney fan at all – I live for rock and roll – but this show intrigues me… it looks Cirque de Soleil.

Happy New Year!!

January 2nd, 2009

Well, for my New Year’s gift, I got my weight down to 149!! My goal was 150.  Also, I got into a size jr8 without forcing the zipper! After my long awaited shower – (sidenote – we are snowed in out here in the “Lost Land” and do not have water most of the time, so showers are few and too far between, laundry is backing up, toilets are flushed less often and the garbage truck and propane truck can’t get here, either) – my husband (who is rarely home from the road on New Year’s Eve) and my friend, N, went out for dinner, dancing and a few drinks. The restrurant we picked, Black Barts Steakhouse and Saloon, has a dinner show… comprised of NAU acting students.  The night’s show was songs from many diff composers. Most of the singers were not bad, the meal was OK and then we left there to go find some fun! (You guessed that I was not impressed with show tunes? right!) We went to The Museum Club in Flagstaff  aka “The Zoo”- established 1931 – I have lived here for 8 yrs and have managed to avoid the place. It was cool inside with many antique items but it is an established country western place. I may make many enemies by stating this – but I am just so not into country music! If it’s not rock and roll of any era, it is just not fun music to me.  The band “Redneck” (N, try not to drool on your keyboard?LOL!) was on that night.  Not a bad band… they even played 2 real rock and roll songs! The part of the night that intrigued me the most, though, was all of the single people looking for single people.  And the guys! Tight pants and cowboy hats! everywhere! I found this hilarious because if they were REAL cowboys, they could NEVER even get on a horse in those pants – you could count the change in their pockets! Here we all are at Black Bart’s- sorry that the flash did not go off….

And to make the year so VERY exciting for me…. my kitty has been missing for 2 weeks. I thought she became some creature’s late night snack. She showed up last night skinny but in good shape. I think she must have gotten caught inside some hideout of hers when we got those 2 bad snow storms and that the snow melted enough yesterday for her to get out. I have really missed her company.

I think she missed me too! :-)

So, Happy New Year to all!

Vegas

November 22nd, 2008

vegas, baby!

We made it!!

Well, this has been a very busy week!  Three days in Vegas, GH coming home after being on the road for 6 months (lots of cleaning and cooking in prep for his home coming!), and his lobogunz business has been slammed since Obama’s election (I am the photographer, shipper, bookkeeper and NICS checker).  Also, I have been trying to spend more time with the horses and kids.

N and I had a very good time in Vegas… thank you so much to her dad!  He made it a very special weekend.  I met his wife, too.  It is good to be with people who are happy :-)

Excalibur

We stayed at the Excalibur -- the cute hotel in the middle that looks like Disneyland.

The first night we all went to see Cirque du Soleil, Ka.  (No camera allowed)  This sort of entertainment was all new to me and I LOVED it!  N and I got all dressed up for the event -- which was an event in itself for me!  I rarely get dressed like this.

Elvis and me

After the show, I had a “meeting” with Elvis!

Bellagio

The second night, we went to see the water show at the Bellagio.  I love watching the fountains dance with the music!

Bellagio and me

Then we got a double decker shuttle bus to go to the Freemont Street Experience to watch the Queen tribute.

This is just a still photo…

the video that I took is too jumpy to post.. I was dancing instead of holding the camera steady.  Here is a YouTube one.

The new overpass for Hoover Dam

On our way home, we went over the Hoover Dam.  Maybe someday they will be done with the overpass!  This seems to be the only section not finished, yet.

We never did do any gambling on the tables or with the machines.  But we took lots of showers (we both have cisterns in the ground and limited water for the week.  We had a few drinks… ok, she had a few -- I had almost too many!  We shopped for souvenirs, walked and walked, and slept good every night.

Thank you, N, for inviting me and Thank you to her dad, too!

Updates

July 20th, 2008

I have several updates…..

First, the duck laid the 4th egg today.  I am pretty sure that it is the grey duck.  We are not leaving them in the duck house.  They seem to be pullet eggs, smaller eggs laid in the first laying.  She is not trying to sit on it at all… in fact, she is pushing it out to the edges of their house.

Second, some of you asked me to let you know how the FlyPredators are doing…. They are FANTASTIC!  The horses are not as bothered by the flies.  And in the house, I am only finding about 10 flies at night – instead of hundreds.  They are well worth the 18.45 (delivered) a month.

And third – Great Husband is in Cheyenne, WY at the Cheyenne Frontier Days, World’s Largest Outdoor Rodeo and Western Celebration, with Rascal Flatts.  He sent these pics that he took with his camera for me to enjoy.  Cowgirls. Indians and up close and personal with Rascal Flatts.  Wish I could be there with him!  Maybe next year we can make it a family vacation.

And….

I got to see my younger daughter, Jessica, yesterday.  She came and got Leavi so that he could stay with her for a week or so.  It is very quiet here with only Luke!  Leavi will be missed.  I nearly cried when they left yesterday.  That is a very kind and warm little boy….. but also very very busy all the time!

Rascal Flatts Trucks

July 17th, 2008

Great Husband is one of the 11 semi-trucks that is hauling Rascal Flatts equipment.  They were recently in Sarnia, ON at Bayfest.  Here is a video of what the trucks look like and the lead driver’s interview.

Great Husband and many of the other drivers spent 5 days in Nashville so that his trailer could be “wrapped” with the bands tour logo -- Bob That Head.  Husband says that when he driving on the freeways, people will drive up to the trailer, match his speed and take pictures of the trailer.

Roger Waters at Cochella

May 18th, 2008

My daughter, Jessica, was here yesterday and shared her pics and videos of Cochella Fest that she went to on her 26th birthday -- April 26th.  It was a 3 day event with many many bands and DJs.  I went to see Pink Floyd way back in the 80′s -- wish I could have seen him again.  Here is a video of Roger Waters that she took.

The Flying Pig got away :-)

She slept in the campground every night

Thanks, Jess, for sharing your great weekend!

Wordless Wednesday

March 5th, 2008

Jeff Healey will be missed.  Quote from Pantagraph.comCanadian blues guitarist Jeff Healey and his band perform in New York’s Central Park, in this July 1, 2000, file photo. Healey, arguably one of the most distinctive guitar players of our time, died Sunday March 2, 2008, in Toronto. He was 41, and leaves his wife, Cristie, daughter Rachel, 13 and son Derek, 3. (AP)”.  Even though he was blind, for me, he will always have “Angel Eyes”.  I saw him when he was touring with ZZ Top about 15 yrs ago at Konocti Resort and Spa.  It was a small outdoor venue and Jeff was the opening band.  I got there very early to watch and listen as he warmed up.  It was an awesome show.  I had originally got my ticket to see ZZ Top and was extra excited when I heard that Jeff Healey was the opening band.  BTW, ZZ Top stunk that day.

I call this post “Wordless Wednesday” to honor him with a few moments of silent thought from me.

Rascal Flatts Tour

March 5th, 2008

Great husband is driving some of the band’s equipment on their current tour.  He one of several trucks.  Rascal Flatts will be playing in Salt Lake City this Friday night.  Then on Saturday night they will be in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Resort.   I hope to be able to go to see them since great husband gets free back stage passes.  After Las Vegas, they will be in Canada for about a week.

Here is a video of them

I got to go to the Mandalay Resort to see Mana last August.  I had never heard of them before husband went on tour with them because they are from Mexico.  That is one of the greatest bands I have ever heard… the band ranks 6th in the world of best latin bands.  I did not understand more than 5 words the whole concert (I do not speak Spanish) but the energy from the band and from the audience was almost overwhelming!

This is what I saw that night… different venue but the same show

I will let you know if I am able to get to LV to see Rascal Flatts
